A brand new route from Airlink has officially been launched, connecting Johannesburg to the two main cities of Malawi.
Airlink touches down in Malawi
On Wednesday, 6 September 2023, Airlink touched down in Blantyre, wrapping up the successful inauguration of its new Malawi routes – to Blantyre and Lilongwe.
According to a statement from the airline, Malawi has become the latest country in their comprehensive network, now extending to 46 destinations.

“In launching Airlink’s services, we are helping to establish Malawi as an attractive destination for tourism and business and support its economic diversification strategy by providing convenient, reliable and competitive flights to Johannesburg and with convenient connections to other Airlink destinations and the rest of the world with our constellation of long-haul partners,” Airlink CEO and Managing Director, Rodger Foster explained.

Flight schedules
The Malawi flight schedule will be as follows:
- Flight 4Z460 will depart Johannesburg at 11:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, arriving in Lilongwe at 13:20.
- The return flight, 4Z461, will depart Lilongwe at 14:10 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as well, arriving in Johannesburg at 16:25.
- For the Blantyre route, flight 4Z450 will depart Johannesburg at 11:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, arriving in Blantyre at 13:01.
- The return flight 4Z451 will then depart Blantyre at 14:15 on the same days, arriving in Johannesburg at 16:35.
