It’s great news for South African travellers indeed: FlySafair now has rights to fly direct from Johannesburg to Zanzibar.
Johannesburg to Zanzibar direct
The island paradise of Zanzibar is a popular destination for many sun-seekers, South Africans included. And now, local airline, FlySafair will make if even easier for SA travellers to make their way to the Tanzanian archipelago, with direct flights from Johannesburg.
The airline recently announced that it now has rights to fly THREE scheduled flights per week, direct between Johannesburg and Zanzibar.
According to Travel News, these direct, scheduled flights between Johannesburg and the island are actually coveted rights, and have long been held by the now inactive airline, Mango. Prior to this announcement from FlySafair, the only direct flights on this desired route had been charters by Africastay.
Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer of FlySafair, says that this new service should be up and running soon.
“Translating this existing chartered operation into a scheduled operation should be a fairly quick process, allowing us to release schedules as early as Q2,” Gordon said.
