A level 6 warning for HAILSTORMS and floods was issued for TODAY in these parts of South Africa.
THE LEVEL 6 WARNING IS IN PLACE FROM MIDDAY UNTIL MIDNIGHT
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said flash flooding of roads, susceptible settlements, and danger to life in crossing fast-flowing streams.
“Large amounts of small hail/large hail can cause damage to vehicles and difficult driving conditions, especially where heavy downpours are present. These conditions can lead to major travel disruptions and can be aggravated by possible falling trees blocking major roads.
“Loss of agricultural production is also likely, together with disruption to essential services.” SAWS

THESE ARE THE AREAS THAT WILL BE AFFECTED:
- Witzenberg / Ceres
- Laingsburg
- Prince Albert
- Breede Valley / Worceste
- Kannaland / Ladismith
- George
- Mossel Bay / Mosselbay
- Hessequa / Riversdale
- Knysna
- Swellendam
- Langeberg / Robertson
The warning is in place from 12:00 until midnight on Monday.
‘STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM METAL OBJECTS’
The SAWS advised staying indoors, where possible, away from metal objects. Do not seek shelter under trees or tall objects.
Stay away from fishing or playing golf, as golf clubs and fishing rods are good.
Meanwhile, a level 4 warning for the severe warning was issued for more areas of the country.
The SAWS furthermore warned that large amounts of small hail/large hail could cause damage to vehicles and difficult driving conditions, especially where heavy downpours are present.

- City of Cape Town / Cape Town city
- Stellenbosch
- Drakenstein / Paarl
- Beaufort West
