Wayne Coetzer, Managing Director at Vergelegen Estate stated that a rather enticing feature of the region was that locals and tourists did not have to travel far from Cape Town to enjoy a relaxing stay at one of the estates.
“It’s important to collaborate as a region, in order to make more people aware of just how much there is to experience in this easy-to-reach destination, less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town,” he said.
“We want to spread the word that visitors can enjoy the very best of the Western Cape right here in the heart of the Helderberg.” he added.
Beauty of the Helderberg region
The Helderberg region is a stunner in its own right, comprising the areas of Somerset West, Strand and Gordon’s Bay. The name is taken from the impressive Helderberg mountain, which provides an impressive backdrop to a region brimming with history and natural beauty. The area also lies very close to the Cape Winelands, with beautiful Stellenbosch just a stone throw’s away.
