The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging winds and waves between Margate and Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, for Friday, 21 April. The weather warning key indicates there is a high chance of minor weather-based impacts.
WEATHER WARNING FOR PARTS OF KZN COAST
The warning is valid from 00:00 until 12:59 on Friday. The strong winds and damaging waves could result in difficulty navigating the sea. The weather will affect the coast between Margate and Richard’s Bay.
Localised disruption of small harbours and ports is also possible, and small vessels are at risk of taking on water and capsizing. The wind may also hamper travel due to sand build-up on coastal roads.
“Caution must be exercised in places along the coast, ports and beaches,” said the weather service.
