Franschhoek boasts that almost all of its citizens are vaccinated against COVID-19. Recently, the town has declared that they have reached “population safety” and are ready to welcome tourists this festive season.
This means that if you are looking for an escape or holiday destination this festive season, Franschhoek is definitely the place to go, as you will hopefully be able to escape the anxiety that is COVID-19, even just for a little while. This doesn’t mean that you don’t have to practice caution and adhere to COVID-19 regulations though, but it does mean that you can worry a little less in this town.
Franschhoek, supported by Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, has been pushing for the entire population of Franschhoek to be vaccinated as a town project since August of this year.
In order for the town to reach population safety, there must be at least 960 people vaccinated each day.
“By means of various fundraising initiatives, which included setting up a GoFundMe account, the goal was achieved and the results have been phenomenal.”
Ruth McCourt, Tourism Marketing Manager of Franschhoek.
The reason for this massive push is to be able to higher the influx of national and international tourists into the quaint town and boy, have they reached their goal! Get excited to bask in the sunny Franschhoek this festive season and be in a mostly Covid-safe environment.
