Severe Weather Alerts
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:
A.Yellow level 2 for severe thunderstorms with possible heavy downpours, leading to localised flooding of low lying bridges, settlement and roads, damage to infrastructure areas expected over the central and northern interior of the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape (except in the north-western parts), western Free State, North-West, northern parts of Gauteng, western Highveld of Mpumalanga and western high ground of KwaZulu-Natal as well as in places over the Western Cape.
B.Orange level 5 warning for severe thunderstorm with possible damage or loss of infrastructure, settlement (formal and informal), damage on property and vehicles, roads flooding resulting in some closure of some bridges and roads are expected over the central parts of the Western Cape, southern Gauteng, central and north-eastern parts of Free State.
c. Yellow level 2 for damaging winds resulting in some transport routes being affected by wind and fallen trees as well as localised disruptions for harbours and/or ports is expected along the coast between Storm River and East London.

Gauteng:
Temperature: Cloudy and warm with widespread showers and thundershowers.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
Mpumalanga:
Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the south. It will but hot in places in the Lowveld.
Limpopo:
Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, with morning fog and drizzle along the escarpment.
North-West Province:
Temperature: Cloudy and warm with scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers.
Free State:
Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with widespread showers and thundershowers
Northern Cape:
Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers but scattered in the south and east.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be light northerly becoming southerly in the afternoon.
Western Cape:
Temperature: Morning fog along the south coast, otherwise cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the extreme south-west of the Cape Winelands. Scattered to widespread showers and thundershowers are expected.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate northerly to north-westerly north of Table Bay, otherwise fresh to strong south-easterly.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High
Eastern Cape:
The Western half – Cloudy in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the north.
The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be Fresh to strong north easterly, reaching near gale force in places from late morning.
The Eastern half -Cloudy and cool to warm with SCATTERED showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the north.
The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be Fresh to strong north easterly.
Kwazulu-Natal:
Temperature: Cloudy and cool but warm in the north-east. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected but widespread in the extreme west.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate easterly to north-easterly.
