A South African city has been ranked as one of the World’s Most Popular City Break destinations. Can you guess which one?
Popular city vacays around the world
If you guessed Cape Town, you’d be correct! The Mother City was ranked amongst the World’s Most Popular City Break destinations, taking a firm spot at number seven.
According to Google research data analysed by British hotel chain, Premier Inn, over 1 200 cities in around 130 countries were reviewed to find the most popular city spots around the globe.
The data found that Cape Town was the seventh most popular city break destination (the same as London), with it being the favourite of six countries around the world. These countries were Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho and Eswatini.
While Cape Town did indeed rank highly for other countries looking to visit the Mother city, South Africans themselves were searching for city breaks outside of the country. The data showed that Dubai was the favourite choice, not only for South Africans, but the world at large, as it took the number one spot with 21 countries looking to visit the desert metropolis.
