The longest marathon on a swing is 36 hr 32 min, achieved by Richard Scott (UK) in Kinross, Tayside, UK, from 14 to 15 May 2022.
Richard had been interested in attempting this record for almost 40 years! Around one year before his attempt, he was telling his children about this interest and looked online to see what the current record was. “When I saw it was 34 hours I thought ‘I could do that’. I was the fittest I had been in my life so why not. Turns out it wasn’t as easy as I thought“, he told GWR.
He contacted a local swing manufacturer who provided the swing for his attempt. He was also supported by his local cricket club which allowed him to use their pavilion and power for the official attempt, and the local Rotary International club, which helped provide the equipment needed to capture the required evidence.
