Severe Weather Alerts
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:
A. A Yellow Level 2 warning: Severe thunderstorms leading to localised flooding of susceptible roads, low-lying areas and bridges and well as minor vehicle accidents is expected over Gauteng, the eastern parts of the North West Province, northern and eastern parts of Free State, as well as the interior of Mpumalanga
B. A Yellow Level 2 warning: Wind leading to difficulty in navigation at sea is expected along the coast between Dassen Island and Hermanus.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the interior of Namakwa in the Northern Cape, the Cape Metropole Districts including Matzikama Municipality in the Western Cape.
ADVISORIES:
Heat wave with persistently high temperatures for the Nama Khoi, Kamiesberg Municipalities over the Northern Cape and Matzikama Municipality over the Western Cape until Sunday.

Gauteng:
Temperature: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers. It will be warm in the north
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
Mpumalanga:
Temperature: Morning fog along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cold to cool but warm in the Lowveld with scattered showers and thundershowers.
Limpopo:
Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the extreme south excluding the north-west where it will be partly cloudy.
North-West Province:
Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm, with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the west.
Free State:
Temperature: Morning fog patches in the east at first, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated over the central and the western parts.
Northern Cape:
Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot, with showers and thundershowers in the eastern parts. It will be fine in the west.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south to south-easterly, reaching near-gale from the afternoon.
Western Cape:
Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east in the morning, otherwise fine and warm to hot, but very hot in places in the West Coast District interior.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly along the south coast, otherwise southerly to south-easterly, but near gale along the south-west coast in the afternoon and evening.

Eastern Cape:
The Western half – Cloudy and cool but warm in the north, becoming fine by afternoon.
The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate easterly
The Eastern half -Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain but scattered in the east. Thundershowers are expected in the north.
The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light easterly, becoming moderate north-easterly from late afternoon.
Kwazulu-Natal:
Temperature: Cloudy and cool but cold in places in the west. Scattered showers and rain are expected, but isolated in the extreme south.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-westerly, becoming south-easterly south of Richard’s Bay in the afternoon.
