One hotel has stepped up their technology game by incorporating holograms at their front desk reception. Here’s more details…
Front desk meets hologram
A hotel in Denmark has introduced new technology at their front desk – in the form of a hologram.
According to skift.com, the hologram system, made by start-up company, Holoconnects, was installed at the Aiden hotel in Herning, Denmark earlier this year.

What does it do?
When a guest arrives through the front door, instead of a human greeting them at the front desk, they are welcomed with a pre-recorded hologram video projected into a 1,8m x 0,9m holographic display box with a touchscreen.
The guest is then offered options on the touchscreen, like hotel information or whether they would like help from a live person. If the guest would like to speak to a human, then a customer service worker will be able to connect remotely and appear as a hologram within the box.

‘More efficiency’ says Operations Manager
Thomas Furulund, operations manager for Oslo-based CIC Hospitality, who are opening 30 boutique Aiden by Best Western hotels in Scandinavia soon, said that the front desk hologram is part of a strategy to increase efficiency while maintaining a personal touch.
“Our main target is to have no administration tasks at the hotels. For customer satisfaction but also to operate our hotel more cost efficiently,” Furulund said. “Our on-site staff should basically play shuffleboard and drink coffee with our guests instead of doing the traditional tasks.” Furulund said as per skift.com.
