Good news for Mzansi fans is that the Grammy award-winning group will be playing two exclusive shows in Cape Town and Pretoria this May.
Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, and cousins Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson are currently performing in more than 150 shows across the Americas, Australia, Asia, and Europe…with South Africa finally added to their comeback tour!
Backstreet Boys time capsule: Then and now
The boy band’s career spans 30 years this year and includes ’90s pop chart-toppers, such as:
- Everybody from their Backstreet’s Back album in 1997;
- As Long as You Love Me, Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely from their Millennium album in 1999; and
- I Want it That Way, Shape of My Heart from their Black and Blue album in 2000.
In an interview with E! News, Kevin Richardson revealed the “secret” to Backstreet Boys’ longevity.
“Our music that we made together, we put a lot of love into that music. We had quite a few radio hits that have become a time capsule for people. It reminds them of a less stressful time in their life, the good times and it reminds them of loves past.”
“I look out in the audience at our shows [DNA World Tour] and I see three generations in the audience. It’s incredible,” the 51-year-old singer from Kentucky said.
“Seeing the faces, seeing the smiles, feeling the energy, feeling the love, it has been a beautiful gift.”
