Fraport has already begun testing the world’s first passenger security scanner at Frankfurt Airport. Here’s more details…
Long security lines may soon be a thing of the past, as a new passenger security scanner is being trialled for six months at Frankfurt Airport.
According to Schengenvisa.info, the new R&S QPS Walk2000 from Rohde & Schwarz aims to speed up security screenings and provides a 360° walk-through scan that can detect all kinds of items quickly and contact-free.

Fraport said that the scanner provides a more pleasant security experience for passengers, where they don’t have to stop to be scanned and can instead slowly walk through the R&S QPS Walk2000.

The technology is able to penetrate multiple layers of clothing, making it unnecessary for passengers to remove jackets and coats, like they have to do now.
The security checkpoint for the six-month test phase is in the Schengen Concourse A of Terminal 1, where about 15 000 passengers pass through the concourse daily, making it a great spot to test the new scanner.
