TimeOut Magazine has listed a very popular Cape Town suburb as one of the coolest suburbs in the world. Can you guess which one?
Congratulations to the residents of Sea Point! You now, officially, live in the 38th-coolest neighbourhood in the world. That’s according to TimeOut Magazine anyway, who have lavished praise upon the popular Cape Town hot-spot.

The world-renowned travel specialists don’t give these accolades out easily. To be in the running, you need some unique selling points, and a few jaw-dropping sights. Sea Point has both in abundance, and contributor Yazeed Kamaldien is all too happy to wax lyrical about them.
In his write-up, the wordsmith hails Sea Point for its ‘spine-tingling sunset views’. He also paid tribute to the region’s ‘lip-smackingly diverse food options’. In a competitive field, Cape Town’s beloved suburb trumps everything from Parisian networks, to Turkish delights.
“Sea Point is Cape Town’s cool beachfront face – an oceanside suburb heaving with quirky local businesses, and with enviable transport links to nearby beaches like Clifton and Camps Bay. It’s home to a mix of families, young professionals, creatives, and immigrant communities.”
“Sea Point is known throughout Cape Town for the spine-tingling sunset views on its seven-mile Beach Road promenade, and for Regent Street – the neighbourhood’s main road, which boasts a hub of hot hotels and lip-smackingly diverse food options.” | TimeOut Magazine

Colonia Americana in Guadalajara, Mexico takes the top-spot on the list. The party town has carved out a professional and cultured reputation for itself over the years, ensuring it’s status as the coolest place of the lot.
Lisbon’s Cais do Sodré (Portugal) and Siem Reap’s Wat Bo Village (Cambodia) complete the top three. There is only one other African suburb on the list, and that’s FESTAC Town in Lagos. This part of Nigeria is known for its *legendary* social street gatherings.
For Capetonians, however, they can now boast about having one of the world’s coolest suburbs on their doorsteps – just weeks after it was revealed the Mother City is also home one of the world’s coolest streets. Both gongs are a major boost for the local tourism industry.
