Jazz Festival postponed

Jazz-lovers were in for a real treat this year, with the Cape Town International Jazz Festival heading back to the city after three long years. But now, event organisers, espAfrika, has announced that the much-anticipated festival, which was meant to take place on 17 and 18 March 2023, will be pushed back and will only return in February next year.

Considered to be one of the most important and influential jazz productions in the jazz world, the popular Cape Town International Jazz Festival was set to have its 21st anniversary celebrations, which was postponed from 2020 due to COVID-19.

The festival was also set to host over 21 performances on three stages, and the legendary Afro-jazz singer, Judith Sephuma, was meant to grace the stage at the event.

Reasons for push back

According to Tourism Update, several factors are believed to have shaped the decision for the postponement. These include a many unavoidable delays and unforeseen challenges, as well as uncertainties around the future of load shedding, all of which have negatively impacted the planning for this year.

All ticket-holders who have purchased tickets from Ticketmaster may either retain them for the resheduled festival or obtain a full refund from the Ticketmaster website here.

The rescheduled Cape Town International Jazz Festival will take place on 23 and 24 February 2024.
