West Coast National Park ‘springs’ into colour

South African National Parks (SANParks) yesterday announced that the much-anticipated West Coast National Park flower season had officially begun.

In a statement they said that due to the exceptional rainfall received during the winter season, they were expecting an extraordinary bloom in the flower fields, promising a wonderful spectacle for all visitors.

Charlene Adams, West Coast National Park Park Manager said that they were excited about this year’s flower season and that the vibrant blooms were bound to mesmerize every visitor.

“The abundance of rainfall has worked wonders and we can’t wait to showcase the beauty of our park during the months of August and September.” Adams said.

Park information

Visitors to the Postberg Reserve and the park can visit during the following hours and at these prices:

  • Gate times for Postberg:
    09:00 to 17:00 with the last entry at 16:30
  • Gate times for the West Coast National Park:
    August: 07:00 to 18:00 with last entry at 17:30
    September: 07:00 to 19:00 with last entry at 18:30

Conservation fees for August and September are as follows:

  • South African adult (with ID) – R104 per person
  • South African child (under 12) – R52 per person
  • SADC National adult (with passport) – R160 per person
  • SADC National child (under 12) – R80 per person
  • Standard Conservation Fee/International Visitors
    • Adult – R234 per person
    • Child (under 12) – R117 per person
