National Parks Week 2023

South African National Parks (SANParks) week will soon hit South Africans’ calendars next month from 16 to 24 September.

According to a statement from SANParks, parks week will once again be extended to include weekends at some of the national parks.

Each year, SANParks hosts the free week as an initiative aimed at linking the South African national parks system to the global national movement and to showcase the best of South Africa’s national parks. The free week also provides all South Africans with the opportunity to explore their local National Park at absolutely no cost.

Since its inception in 2006, Parks Week, under the theme ‘Know Your National Parks’, has seen an influx of over 691 418 day visitors in all participating parks, SANParks says.

The free week will grant free access to 18 national parks for day visitors. It also should be noted that free access to parks does not include free access to accommodation facilities and other tourist activities.
