Explore the Knysna Heads

The Knysna Heads are two massive sandstone cliffs that guard the entrance to the Lagoon from the Indian Ocean. You can enjoy breathtaking views of the lagoon, ocean and surrounding landscape from viewpoints like East Head and West Head. It’s also a great spot for photography. A must-visit!

Visit Featherbed Nature Reserve

Be sure to take a ferry ride to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, which is located on the western head of Knysna. Explore the reserve’s diverse ecosystems, including coastal forests and fynbos. Guided walks and eco-tours are also available, allowing you to learn about the local flora and fauna.

Hike in the Knysna Forest

Knysna is surrounded by incredible, lush indigenous forests, making it an ideal destination for hiking enthusiasts. Trails like the Drupkelders Trail and Garden of Eden Trail offer opportunities to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area. Keep an eye out for the famous Knysna elephants, although they are rare and sightings are not guaranteed.
