IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

A. Orange Level 6 warning Disruptive rainfall leading to flooding of roads and settlements (formal and informal), possible damage to roads and bridges, major disruption of traffic flow due to major roads being flooded or closed is expected over the North West and the Free State Provinces.

B. Yellow Level 4 warning Disruptive rainfall leading to flooding of roads and settlements (formal and informal), possible damage to roads and bridges, major disruption of traffic flow due to major roads being flooded or closed is expected in places over Gauteng, North West and the Free State, the north parts of the Eastern Cape, the western parts of Mpumalanga as well as the south-western parts of Limpopo

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with widespread showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers, except in the extreme north-east.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the extreme south-west from the evening.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the east.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the north-eastern parts.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Morning fog patches along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the north-eastern parts.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate southerly to south-easterly becoming fresh by the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers over the Central Karoo by the afternoon, where it will be hot.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly east of Cape Agulhas in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh north-westerly to westerly but strong at times south of Betty’s Bay by late morning into the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half –Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme north.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming south-westerly in the afternoon.

The Eastern half -Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming south-westerly west of East London in the evening.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog patches over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in places in the north. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected in the west, otherwise isolated except in the north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate easterly to north-easterly, becoming fresh in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
