Table Mountain Cableway to shut down for two weeks

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) have announced that their cable car operations would shut down for two weeks at the end of July to allow for scheduled maintenance work to be carried out.

According to a press release from the Cableway Company, the maintenance process for this year is less intense and so would only require two weeks of closure.

“Whether it is a long or a short closure, our priority is always the safety and comfort of our visitors and our staff members. We conform to the best safety standards and our annual closures help us to check that we’re meeting these requirements,” said TMACC Managing Director, Wahida Parker.

“The safety and comfort of our visitors are very important to us. Our annual maintenance periods allow us to make important updates and upgrades to all aspects of our business and operations so that we can offer visitors an even better and more enjoyable experience by the time we reopen,” Parker added.

Parker also highlighted that the closure would unfortunately occur while the Netball World Cup is hosted in Cape Town, while European tourists would also be arriving.

But while the cable cars might be shut down, hiking routes would still be available for hikers and climbers to enjoy.
