A recent video of a plane touching down whilst almost grazing a bunch of tourists’ heads has gone viral. Check it out here…
A video showing the heart-stopping moment when a Wizz Air jet flew almost within touching distance of tourists in Greece has gone viral on social media.
The plane, which reached the Skiathos Airport in one piece, just narrowly cleared the fence and and a group of tourists’ heads as it approached the runway. According to eurotravel.news, the narrow escape isn’t exactly an unusual occurrence on the Greek Island, as the runway at Skiathos Airport is just 1 628 metres long and, due to the unique geography of the island, pilots have had to approach the landing much lower than they would at any other airport.
The viral video in question was filmed by Youtube account, GreatFlyer, on 5 August 2022, and posed the question whether this might have been the “lowest ever landing” at the airport.

The YouTube video shows a bunch of excited tourists waiting patiently with cameras in hand for the passing plane. The onlookers were nearly knocked back by the huge air blast from the plane, as dust from the road clouded the air and hats were lost in the process. The slowed-down recording is especially incredible to witness.
This particular spot on Skiathos is actually a very popular with visitors who want to catch sight of the low-landing planes. And although there are plenty of signs warning onlookers about the dangers of such an activity, daring tourists still flock to the site.
