Exploring the Mother City has never been easier, with a new interactive travel experience launched by Cape Town Tourism.
An exciting new immersive experience from Cape Town Tourism has been the talk of the town recently. Find Your Freedom is digital technology that uses game-style graphics to help explorers and global travellers choose their travel experience. It not only helps travellers see what the Mother City has to offer, it also puts a much-needed spotlight on local tourism – something that South Africa needs post-Pandemic.
How does the interactive game work?
According to Tourism Update, the experience allows users to virtually choose what they want to see and explore in the Mother City, by choosing a guide they identify with – the Fearless Foodie, the Nature Warrior or the Urban Adventurer. Users will then interact with pop-up options on screen – which direct you to short clips featuring the best local CPT spots.
As Enver Duminy, CEO of Cape Town Tourism, explains:
“Find Your Freedom uses the latest digital technology to immerse viewers in unique Cape Town choice-driven video experiences. You choose your guide. You choose your adventure. It’s an interactive journey from start to finish.”
The fact that viewers get to make their own choices is the cornerstone of the campaign and very current with international trends, says Leigh Dawber, Chief Marketing Officer of Cape Town Tourism.
“With the creeping onset of the metaverse, choice will continue to govern virtual experiences that feel ever more real. In this campaign, we’ve combined real-life footage of Cape Town with whimsical CGI touches.” she said.
“Many of us remember those iconic Choose Your Own Adventure childhood books. This campaign works in a similar way. It’s innovative and inspiring. It lets you dictate how you explore our beautiful city. Millennials, especially, have a keen sense of adventure and desire to travel with purpose. Our aim is to appeal to this. The more personalised you can make your experience of the Mother City, the more likely you are to plan the trip of a lifetime,” she added.
