Good news for travellers heading to Mauritius: the island nation has once again updated entry regulations. Here’s what’s new…
Tropical island destination, Mauritius, now says that everyone is welcome to visit the country – both vaccinated and unvaccinated, with no one to be subjected to arrival or departure testing.
According to Travel News, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority says that pre-departure testing is now no longer required and there is no testing on arrival. This includes both vaccinated and unnvaccinated travellers.
Previously, the no-testing-on-arrival convenience was only limited to vaccinated individuals. The other previous requirement for self-isolation of unvaccinated travellers has also been dropped. Masks are also no longer mandatory, except in airports, in airport transfers, on public transport and in all health-care facilities, including pharmacies.
The Tourism Promotion Authority does, however, recommend that the All in One Mauritius travel form be filled in by visitors before departure. The form must be printed out and presented at the airport on arrival. Travellers also have the option of filling in the disembarkation card on arrival instead. More information can be found here.
The island nation has always been a favoured destination for South Africans, and now with local low cost airline FlySafair having relaunched flights to the country on 8 March, flying to Mauritius has never been more cost-efective. Prices start at around R3 700 one way, depending on travel period.
