Best in Travel: SA lands spot on Lonely Planet list

Lonely Planet has just released their uniquely curated ‘Best in Travel 2023’ list and SA has taken a spot for its delicious cuisine.

SA gets one of 30 spots in Best of Travel list

International travel publication Lonely Planet recently announced their Best in Travel 2023 list, which highlights the top 30 Destinations to visit and why. South Africa proudly features on the list, as a top destination in which to experience memorable and diverse cuisine, reports Getaway.

The Lonely Planet list is carefully curated by travel experts from around the world, who select top destinations that’s designed to assist travellers dream, plan and visit spots that’s predicted to be popular in the coming year.

Each year, they survey 200 or more of their global travel experts, who attentively predict the upcoming year’s most anticipated places and travel experiences.

“Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2023 offers a comprehensive set of itineraries to help you explore the world. For the first time ever, we’ve sorted the list by trip type – eat, journey, connect, learn, or unwind – to help you find your next adventure. We hope this year’s roster helps you navigate the world in the way that’s most meaningful to you – through recommendations from the local voices who know these places best. ” the publication states.

One of the best countries for food

South Africa, of course, features under Lonely Planet’s ‘Eat’ itinerary, alongside other fabulous culinary destinations like Peru, Italy, Japan, Malaysia and Uruguay.

“Complementing its internationally known (and loved) vineyards, South Africa’s new generation of chefs is propelling the country’s culinary scene forward making it a destination to visit not just for wine, but food as well.” said Lonely Planet.
