Lion’s Head named best free tourist attraction in Africa

A new study from Casago went in search of the best free tourist attractions around the world and Cape Town’s Lion’s Head made a feature.

Lion’s Head ranks best free tourist attraction in Africa

Every continent, country and state around the worls has free attractions that are a tourist’sdream come true, and now, Casago went in search of the best of them all across the globe and ranked them based on the ratings of previous visitors.

The study found that the highest-rated free tourist attraction in the world was the Luc Vanlaere Harpist – Mini Harp Museum in Bruges, Belgium, which has the highest five-star reviews for free attractions worldwide.

In terms of our own continent however, several attractions in South Africa alone featured in the Top 10 ranking of highest-rated free tourist attraction in Africa.

Coming in at number one, Cape Town’s very own Lion’s Head had the highest five-star reviews for free attractions on the African continent and boasted an incredible 76.48% of five-star ratings.

Another Western Cape gem, Knysna Heads took the number four spot and had a 69.34% of five-star reviews. The number 10 spot was taken by another Cape Town icon, Camps Bay Beach, which had 61.94% five-star rankings.

Besides the three Western Cape free spots, these other tourist attractions in Africa made the Top 10:

  2. Chefchaouen Medina, Chefchaouen, Morocco
  3. Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, Seychelles
  4. Knysna Heads, Knysna, South Africa
  5. Blue Hole, Dahab, Egypt
  6. Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou, Ait-Ben-Haddou, Morocco
  7. Nungwi Beach, Nungwi, Tanzania
  8. Coptic Cairo, Cairo, Egypt
  9. Medina of Fez, Fes, Morocco
  10. Camps Bay Beach, Cape Town, South Africa
