‘KRUGER NATIONAL PARK OFFERED COUPLE ANOTHER ROOM’

Kruger National Park spokesperson, Isaac Phaahla confirmed to TimesLIVE on Thursday, 23 March that the couple found a python in their Satara camp bedroom after returning from lunch and that management was notified.

Phaahle adds that management called in rangers to attend to the snake and the couple was offered another unit which they accepted and checked out the next morning.

This was after the couple suspected a water leak on their roof and reported it. The leak turned out to be a python chilling on the roof of their bedroom.

The South African recently reported that Mica Bafatakis shared their experience on the SANParks Facebook group:

ANOTHER VISITOR FOUND A PYTHON

KNP spokesperson Isaac Phaahla also told TimeLIVE that this was not the first time a visitor found a python in a bedroom in the park.

Phaahla added that trees close to visitors’ rooms are being pruned and closing holes opened by squirrels.

“Management is pruning trees closer to the visitors’ units and closing holes which have been opened by squirrels with wire mesh.”

He also said the park is a unique wilderness area and these incidents do happen, but all efforts are made to ensure visitor safety.
