Despite our country’s placement on the “Scarlet Red” list, France has confirmed that flights between Paris and two South African cities, Johannesburg and Cape Town, will resume.
On 26 November 2021, Air France suspended flights to and from Johannesburg and Cape Town due to the travel restrictions imposed on travellers from southern African countries due to the COVID-19 Omicron variant.
While the airline is said to be committed to the regulations set forth by the French state and the authorities of the countries it serves, restrictions have since been lifted subject to the application of new sanitary protocols.
As such, Air France has confirmed that flights between Paris and Johannesburg and Cape Town will be resumed and will operate with the schedule contained below:

Daily, except Monday | AF990 | CDG-JNB | 23:35 | 11:15 (+1) |

As per the new regulations issued by the French government which became effective on 4 December 2021, South Africa has been placed on the “Scarlet Red” country list.
As a result of this, new entry and exit regulations have been implemented for travel between South Africa and France.
It is advised that travellers read more about the latest requirements over here.
According to a press release, it is important to note that the above new requirements apply to passengers with France as a final destination.
Transfer passengers must also check the entry and exit requirements applicable to their journey on Air France’s TravelDoc website and/or contact the relevant authorities of the country of their final destination.
