Heritage Day is only days away and many people still haven’t made any plans to celebrate. If you’re not one of the many people who will be planting yourself by the braai stand, then perhaps this list of things to do holds the perfect plan for you.

Take a look at some of the things you can do that are both cheap and fun this Heritage Day around Johannesburg.

HERITAGE DAY BEER FESTIVAL

If you’re a beer lover then this one is for you. Let your hair loose at the Heritage Day Festival at Montecasino this weekend and enjoy a variety of beer, rugby, and great music.

Date and time: Friday, 23 September 2022 – Sunday, 25 September 2022 from 10:00 to 22:00

Market in the Courtyard

Enjoy an array of foods, drinks, and local products at the various stalls that will be set up at the scenic Victoria Yards.

This is a fun-filled event for the entire family and will even feature some live performances.

Date and time: Saturday, 24 September 2022 from 11:00 to 20:00

Joburg Doek & Jeans Heritage Picnic

 Calling all picnic lovers! Put on your favourite jeans, pack your picnic baskets and gather your family for a lovely picnic at Rietvlei Zoo Farm in the South of Johannesburg.

They do charge a small entrance fee of R150 for adults and R90 for kiddies but with rides, an animal corner, and even a hiking trail, it is well worth it.
