September brings with it Heritage month in SA and if you want to celebrate, here are five nationals parks you should definitely visit…

Mapungubwe National Park

Mapungubwe National Park in the Limpopo province is home to the ancient Kingdom of Mapungubwe, which dates back to the 13th century. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers archaeological sites, rock art and a museum and is the perfect place to celebrate some of South Africa’s rich history.

Golden Gate Highlands National Park

Located in the Free State province, the Golden Gate Highlands National Park is known for its stunning sandstone cliffs and rock formations. It’s also home to ancient San rock paintings, providing a glimpse into the history and art of the San people.

Tsitsikamma National Park

Tsitsikamma National Park within the Garden Route National Park is known for its lush forests, dramatic coastline and indigenous cultures. The park offers hiking trails and opportunities to learn about the cultural heritage of the indigenous Khoi-San people.

Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

Located in the Kalahari Desert, the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park straddles the border between South Africa and Botswana and is famous for its red sand dunes. The park is still home to the San people, who have a rich cultural history in the region.

Addo Elephant National Park
