According to schengenvisainfo, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) also declared that face masks will not have to be worn in airports and on flights in Europe from 16 May. Rules for wearing a face mask does differ among countries despite the EU’s decision, and many airlines have asked passengers to continue to use masks to and from destinations where a mask on public transport is still needed.
Greece’s Health Minister, Thanos Plevris, addressed this issue in a televised statement.
“Mandatory mask-wearing remains in hospitals, nursing homes and urban transport like buses, metro and tram,” he said.
Greece also recently axed requirements to show proof of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 to enter indoor and outdoor spaces within the country. This comes after Plevris cited “epidemiological data” and expert recommendations as the reason behind the need for changes.
“According to the epidemiological data and the suggestions of the experts, we are announcing the roadmap for the de-escalation of the measures against the Covid-19 pandemic. All measures will be reviewed on September 1, depending on the picture of the pandemic.” he said
