Cape Town Golf Championship

This August, the Cape Town Golf Championship will be taking place at various golf estates in the Mother City over a four-day period.

The tournament, which is open to amateurs and club professionals, will offer up two trophies to avid golfers – the pairs (team of two, which ) trophy and the single (individual) trophy, reports Tourism Update.

Reg Ferreira, Director of Business Development at Sable Hospitality Group, told Tourism Update that the tournament, which hosted 48 players in its first year, would now host over 100 players in 2023.

“It all started eight years ago with an idea I had to try and look at increasing the business into the Western Cape during the period April to September every year. Hence the tournament taking place in August,” Ferreira said.

“We now attract players from Namibia, eSwatini, Zimbabwe, Liberia and Zambia and, of course, South Africa,” Ferreira added.

The tournament will take place at the following Cape Town courses over the four-day period.

  • Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate (pairs and singles) on Monday, 14 August 2023
  • Paarl Boschenmeer Golf Club (pairs) on Tuesday, 15 August 2023
  • Stellenbosch Golf Club (pairs) on Thursday, 17 August 2023
  • King David Mowbray Golf Club (pairs and singles) on Friday, 18 August 2023
