Easter 2023: Awesome events that’ll have you ‘egg-static’

Feel that ‘egg-citement’ in the air? Easter 2023 is just around the corner and if you have no plans yet, here are some fun events to check out in South Africa…

DURBAN

Durban Dessert Festival 2023

What: Durban’s sweetest food and music festival is about to hit your Easter events calendar and you’d better not miss out! You will find a Museum of Dessert, best spot to get in your instagram pictures, as well as a number of food stands, Instagram walls, live music and DJs.

Tickets cost R80 per person and can be booked here.

When: Runs from Friday, 7 April to Sunday, 9 April 2023

Easter Wonderland 2023

What: Easter Wonderland is back this year and it promises to be filled with all the Easter fun you’re after. The nightly market will be held in Bluff and you can look forward to a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory show, a train ride to an Easter Egg hunt in Fantasy Garden,  a live stage production, an easter market, food stalls and much more.

Easter Egg Hunt at Fig Tree Farm

What: Bring your kids along for a fun-filled weekend where they can hunt for Easter eggs at their own pace. The Easter egg hunt is a whole-weekend affair so you can take your time to find all hidden items.

The hunt includes a map which shows you all the spots where you will find all the Easter bunnies and eggs hidden around the farm. Extremely fun for the whole family!

JOHANNESBURG

Easter Weekend Family Festival

What: Ideal for the whole family, the Easter Weekend Family Festival will bring you carnival-style entertainment right in Johannesburg. Come enjoy a wide variety of yummy foods on offer, all while you relax to the sounds of live DJ’s and guest musicians.

Kids can enjoy giant waterslides as well as slip and slides and a special Cow Train, sure to delight the younger kids.

Family Day in Magaliesburg

What: Another one for the whole family – come experience Family Day (10 April) at the Avela Lodge in Johannesburg, Magaliesburg. There will be various foods and drinks on offer as well as lots of fun activities for the kiddies.

Ice Cream tasting event & Easter Market

What: Black Horse Restaurant & Brewery will be hosting a delectable Ice Cream tasting event, where all you will need is 40 minutes to enjoy an ice-cream tasting experience tasting some of the most traditional and creative flavours possible.

There will also be live music and an Easter market to enjoy!

Tickets cost R90 for an ice cream tasting and R50 for an additional alcohol taster. Book your tickets here.

CAPE TOWN

Gin & Tonic Festival

What: Love yourself a Gin and Tonic? Well, gin-superfans won’t want to miss this one! The Cape Town Gin & Tonic Festival will be taking place on Easter Friday this year and will offer fresh new gins, top entertainers, DJ’s and some of Cape Town’s most colourful street foods to enjoy.

Where: The Old Biscuit Mill, 375 Albert Rd, Woodstock, Cape Town.

Tuff Nutterz Inflatable maze

What: Want to play in a giant inflatable maze? In what promises to be epic Easter fun for the whole family to enjoy, the Tuff Nutterz 300m-long, supersized inflatable maze is coming to Cape Town and is packed with 30 fun and challenging obstacles to complete, including huge slides, climbing walls, hanging rails, balancing balls and more.

Groove with Mango Groove in Hermanus

What: Come check out legendary South African Afropop band, Mango Groove, live in Hermanus this Easter weekend. The concert will be a comfy picnic style concert, so bring a blanket and a picnic basket with. All proceeds go to charity.
