ANOTHER ‘dancing teacher’ in SA goes viral on TikTok

A teacher at one of the top performing schools in KZN has gone viral for a TikTok dancing challenge she attempted with learners. Watch here…

It seems like videos of teachers dancing for and with their learners are the latest in thing in South Africa. Another teacher has gone viral after she was filmed doing a TikTok challenge.

Thembakazi Mnguni is a teacher at Velabahleke High School in Umlazi H section, one of the best performing schools which is known for excellent matric results in KwaZulu-Natal

In the video which has since gone viral, Mnguni was filmed dancing with matric learners doing the Rathatha challenge from Master KG’s Wayawaya song which features Team Mosha.

According to her TikTok profile the teacher has just over 126 000 followers and over half a million likes on the platform. She also has other videos of her and her learners doing other TikTok challenges.

A number of people who commented and shared the video complimented the teacher for her energy saying she makes learning fun and some saying they wish they were still in school.

“I like a school where teachers can connect with students. I love this for them! I definitely want my kids who have to spend so much time at school to have fun in between the seriousness of learning and have teachers that make them feel loved and make them enjoy coming to school,” Samantha Briggs said.

“After all the toxic relationships we have seen in South Africa between students and teachers this video just gave me hope that all is not lost, we can still create a conducive environment for both teachers and kids,” Leoma Rabohlale commented..

“It’s good to see a teacher having fun with her pupils…we’ve been witnessing very disturbing videos of pupils and teachers lately,” Thabiso Xulu also commented.

The teacher is also sister to songstress Thembeka Mnguni of The Voice SA and Idols SA fame.
