Residents of Cape Town make the most babies in the world

Cape Town residents apparently make the most babies in the world, according to a new research study. The ‘Cities of Love 2022’ research study done by London-based DC Jewellery shows that the Mother City really could be called the Mother City for other reasons.

The study found that Cape Tonians love love so much, that there are 20 births per 1000 people in the city.

“The residents of Cape Town certainly aren’t afraid of getting intimate, with the highest birth rate of all the cities on our list of 20 per 1000 people.

“Hopefully, we don’t have to explain to you what birth rates have to do with how loving a city is,” the report jests.

How the research was conducted

Research for the report was conducted by DC Jewellery, who looked at the most loving cities from across the 100 most popular tourist destinations.

The site took into account Instagram posts, Google searches, World Bank data and The William’s Institute’s Gay Acceptance Index and created a combined score to reveal which cities are the best for loved-up couples to visit.

The city that came in second to Cape Town was Istanbul, with a birth rate of 16 births per 1000 people.

“Taking second place is Istanbul. The Turkish capital has a birth rate of 16 births per 1000 people, thanks to its relatively large population of young people getting down to it. Despite falling in recent years, the birthrate in Istanbul still outpaces that of other European cities,” the report said.

Sydney, Australia ranked in third place, with 12 births per 1,000 people as of 2019.
