Rising from the ashes: Camp Figtree reopens in Addo

The beautiful Camp Figtree Mountain Safari Lodge in the Addo area is back in business after an unfortunate fire shut its doors in October last year.

Five months after its ill-fated closure in October 2021, Camp Figtree Mountain Safari Lodge reopened its doors this March, rebuilt and ready for visitors. The lodge is located in the stunning Greater Addo area within the Eastern Cape, and really takes advantage of the area’s natural offerings.

New additions for Camp Figtree

Literally rising from the ashes, Tourism Update reports that the lodge was completely rebuilt after the destructive fire and now boasts several new features. These include:

  • A spacious new indoor lounge and dining area
  • An expansive outdoor area
  • A state-of-the art new kitchen
  • 180-degree panoramic views to maximise sunrise and sunset views

Check out some of the beautiful offerings below:

Camp Figtree was purchased by The Oyster Collection, who owns a number of noteworthy accommodations in South Africa, including the 4 star La Fontaine boutique hotel in Franschhoek, The Oyster Box Beach House in Kenton-on-Sea as well as the Blackheath Lodge Boutique Hotel in Sea Point.

Nic and Louise Poole, Camp Figtree’s new owners, said that the lodge had reopening occupancy of over 90% for the last two weeks in March.

“We are beyond excited about the reopening of Camp Figtree Mountain Safari Lodge at a time when hope is high that the COVID-19 challenges, which so adversely affected our industry, are finally behind us,” said Nic

The lodge is also offering a reopening special which includes two nights’ accommodation for two people in a Superior Suite, a guided ranger walk around the camp, and dinner and bed and breakfast daily for R5 699. Subject to availability.
