Environmental incentive: WC beach cleanup gets you great deals

If there wasn’t reason enough to help clean up beaches, De Hoop Collection and Morukuru Beach Lodge are now offering 50% off accommodation deals if you join their beach cleanup this May.

De Hoop Collection, Morukuru Beach Lodge and CapeNature are hosting a fantastic beach clean up weekend initiative at the De Hoop Nature Reserve in May.

The Western Cape offers some of the most beautiful beaches and nature reserves in the world, with the De Hoop Nature Reserve in the Overberg region being one such. In collaboration with De Hoop Collection and Morukuru Beach Lodge, two accommodation venues within the reserve, CapeNature is looking to help preserve nature in this area.

According to Tourism Update, the beach cleanup weekend is set for the weekend of 27-29 May 2022, covering the areas from Koppie Alleen to Skipskop.

50% off accommodation if you partake in the beach cleanup

If you want to partake in the cleanup, then you will also be permitted to take advantage of the 50% discount on accommodation options at both De Hoop Collection and Morukuru Beach Lodge. Here’s what’s on offer and how to get the discount:

De Hoop Collection

De Hoop Collection will offer four to six-bedroom cottages at R1 450 per person, as well as suites for up to two guests at R3 400 per person.

Morukuru Beach Lodge

Morukuru Beach Lodge will offer a suite for up to two guests at R2 900 per person. There are five suites available.

To qualify for the discount, guests must commit to the cleanup on the Friday (27 May) from 16:00, and full-day cleanup on the Saturday. Guests’ own transport must be used to and from Koppie Alleen, and black trash bags and gloves will be provided.

Trevor van Laun, General Manager of Morukuru Beach Lodge said:

“The De Hoop Nature Reserve is one of the most beautiful and unique places in the world and it’s a privilege to be situated in this protected area. However, like anywhere in the world, sea debris and litter wash up on our shores. With beach clean-up weekends such as this one, we can make a difference to ensure our beaches remain as pristine as possible,”
