Air Belgium announces summer schedule to SA and Mauritius

Air Belgium to South Africa and Mauritius

In a recent announcement Air Belgium said that it would be providing flight services to South Africa and Mauritius for the next summer season 2024.

This means that between March and October 2024, the Belgian airline will be operating:

  • two weekly frequencies (Wednesday and Sunday) between Brussels and Johannesburg / Cape Town from 31 March to 23 October 2024*
  • two weekly frequencies (Tuesday and Friday) between Brussels and Mauritius from 2 April to 25 October 2024** \

* Except from 21/04 to 23/06/24, when only one flight a week will be operated to
Johannesburg, every Sunday.
** Except from 10/04 to 06/05/2024, from 14/05 to 01/07/2024 and from 03/09 to
14/10/2024, when only one flight a week will be operated, every Friday.

Interline agreements

The new interline agreement between Air Belgium and Airlink also means that passengers will also be able to extend their journey to and from 17 domestic destinations in South Africa and 29 others in Southern Africa, reports Aviation24.

The deal between Airlink and the Belgian airline will offer Air Belgium customers the ability to book multi-sector journeys for flights operated by Air Belgium and Airlink on a single ticket. It also includes the added ability for passengers to have their luggage checked through to their final destination when transiting through Johannesburg.

Niky Terzakis, CEO of the Belgian airline, said that South Africa was a top tourist spot for European travellers.

“South Africa is in high demand for Belgian and European travellers. We are delighted that our dynamic agreement with Airlink will allow us to offer our customers seamless connections to 12 popular South African leisure and business destinations such as the Kruger National Park, Durban and Gqeberha (formerly known as Port Elizabeth) as well as important business destinations like Kimberley, Bloemfontein and Richards Bay, amongst others.” Terzakis said.
