The West Coast Peninsula of South Africa’s Western Cape stretches a distance of 400km, clinging to the wave-swept coastline from St Helena Bay in the north to the West Coast National Park in the south.

For travellers craving the salty fresh air of the sea, this sliver of coastline holds incredible appeal. The bright-white sand beaches of Paternoster and Saldanha Bay meet the rough-and-tumble, icy Atlantic Ocean while the calm waters of the Langebaan lagoon and wildflower carpeted West Coast National Park beckon nature-lovers.

Mother Nature is indeed at her most seductive and tempestuous on the West Coast. The appeal of the coastline, beaches and lagoon, housing a rich ecosystem, invites nature and peace-seeking travellers to explore time and time again.  The start of the West Coast is Yzerfontein and is 80km north of Cape Town.
