IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

1.NIL

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

1.Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the north-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, in places in the Free State, North West, Gauteng, Limpopo and the western Highveld of Mpumalanga.

ADVISORIES:

1.A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in Gauteng, the Highveld of Mpumalanga, the south-western Bushveld of Limpopo, central and eastern parts of the North West and extreme northern parts of the Free State until and including Tuesday but continuing over the central and eastern parts of the North West and extreme northern Free State until Thursday.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and hot but very hot in the north. It will become partly cloudy in places from late afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers over the central and eastern Highveld from the afternoon.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and hot to very hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme south from the afternoon.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the east from the afternoon.

Free State:

Temperature: Warm in the south, otherwise partly cloudy and hot with isolated thundershowers in the extreme east.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the south in the morning with morning fog patches over the south-western interior, otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot in the north and north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly reaching strong in the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy to partly cloudy in places over the interior and eastern parts in the morning, otherwise fine and cool to warm.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly south of Table Bay in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly but strong north of Cape Columbine at in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very high.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half –Partly cloudy and cool south of the escarpment with light morning rain along the coast.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly becoming light easterly in the evening.

The Eastern half -Partly cloudy to cloudy and cool with light rain south of the escarpment.

The Eastern half -The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly becoming light north-easterly in the evening.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool, but cold in the south-west. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected, except in the extreme north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south-westerly, becoming south-easterly to easterly from the towards evening.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
