Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

A. Yellow Level 4 warning for disruptive rain leading to further flooding of roads and settlements (formal and informal) as well as damage to property, infrastructure, loss of livelihood and livestock is expected over the eastern parts of Free State tomorrow.

B. Yellow Level 2 warning for disruptive rain leading to pooling of roads is expected over the western parts of North West, central parts of Free State and the north eastern parts of Northern Cape tomorrow.

C. Yellow level 1 warning for damaging winds resulting in difficulty in navigation at sea for small vessels as well as localised disruptions of harbours is expected between Yzerfontein and Betty’s Bay

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the Matzikama and Overstrand municipalities of the Western Cape as well as the Kai !Garib municipality of the Northern Cape.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers from the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the Highveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Warm in the extreme south, otherwise cloudy and cool, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershower but widespread in the west.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers but widespread in the north and east.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cloudy with fog patches along the coast in the morning, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers except in the coast, but widespread in the north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate north-westerly, becoming south to south-westerly in the afternoon

Western Cape:

Temperature: Very hot along the West Coast, otherwise fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershower in places in the north-east from the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly along the south coast, otherwise south to south-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half –Cloudy and cool to warm with light rain along the coast and adjacent areas, but isolated showers and thundershowers in the north.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly.

The Eastern half -Cloudy and cold to cool with isolated showers and thundershowers but scattered in the east from afternoon.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be light north-easterly becoming moderate to fresh by afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Cold in places over the intrior, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be gentle to moderate easterly to south-easterly, becoming north-easterly from the south in the afternoon.
