1.Extreme high fire danger conditions expected over the southern, central and northern parts of the Northern Cape, western and central Free State, southern part of North West province as well as the western Limpopo.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Fine and warm but hot in the north.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east and south with morning fog patches over the escarpment, otherwise fine and warm to hot.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east, otherwise fine and warm to hot but very hot in places over the western bush veld.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy with morning fog patches in the east at first, otherwise fine and warm to hot.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine and hot to very hot.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, reaching strong in places at times.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Fog conditions in the south and south west at first, otherwise fine and cool to warm but hot over the north eastern interior.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light and variable north of Saldanha Bay until afternoon where it will become moderate south-westerly. The wind will be fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly becoming westerly to north-westerly from afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half –Morning fog patches in the south, otherwise fine and warm, but partly cloudy and cool in places along the coast.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north easterly, becoming fresh to strong in the afternoon.

The Eastern half -Cool with morning rain along the Wild Coast and fog patches in the southern interior, otherwise fine and warm.

The Eastern half -The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly, becoming fresh to strong in the afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but hot in the north-west where it will be fine from late morning.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to gentle southerly to south-westerly north of Durban, otherwise easterly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
