Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

Yellow Level 1 warning for damaging winds is expected between Plettenberg Bay and Kei River Mouth, causing difficulty in navigation and local disruptions within ports and harbours.

FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the City of Cape Town, Kamiesberg, Bergrivier and Swartland municipalities of the Western Cape.

ADVISORIES:

Extremely hot conditions are expected over the Matzikama and Bergrivier municipalities of Western Cape.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered thundershowers but isolated in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool to warm with scattered thundershowers but isolated in the Lowveld.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Fine and warm to hot, but very hot in the north-west. It will be partly cloudy in the extreme east in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate south-easterly at first, otherwise moderate to fresh northerly to northwesterly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Extremely hot over the interior of the West Coast District, otherwise fine and hot to very hot, but warm along the coastal areas.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southeasterly to easterly, but moderate along the west coast.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half – Partly cloudy and warm along the coast, otherwise fine and hot.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly.

The Eastern half -Partly cloudy in the north, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the east.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme west.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh easterly to south-easterly, becoming north-easterly from the south of Durban in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.
