IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

1.Yellow Level 2 Warning for Severe Thunderstorms resulting in localised flooding and localised damages to infrastructure and settlements expected over Joe Gqabi, Chris Hani, OR Tambo and Alfred Nzo DM’s of the Eastern Cape, the western parts of the North-West, the eastern parts of the Northern Cape and the estern parts of the Free State.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Hot in paces in the north, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers in the south.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme south-west.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers.

Free State:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Cool along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east, but scattered in the extreme east where it will be cloudy.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate south-westerly to westerly.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Early morning showers and thundershowers in the extreme east, otherwise cloudy and warm, but cool along the coastal areas. It will become partly cloudy to sunny in the northern parts from the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly to south-westerly along the south coast, otherwise moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly, becoming south-westerly to southerly in the afternoon.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half –Cloudy and cool in places along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-easterly at first, otherwise moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The Eastern half -Cool in the north, otherwise cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the east.

The Eastern half -The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, becoming south-westerly from the south from the late late afternoon.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers in the west, otherwise partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowes, except in the north-east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh northerly to north-easterly, becoming strong at times.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
