WEATHER: Strong winds, waves and RAIN are expected to affect some parts of SA

Shorts and slops or an umbrella? Here’s what the weather holds for every province in South Africa on Tuesday, 1 August 2023.

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS

A. A yellow level 2 warning: Winds and Waves resulting in disruptions to beachfront activities and difficulty in navigation at sea is expected between Cape Columbine and Plettenberg Bay.

B. Orange level 5 warning: Winds and waves resulting in disruptions to ports/harbours and possible coastal infrastructure damage is expected between Plettenberg Bay and Port Edward.

Gauteng

Temperature: Fine and cold.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Mpumalanga

Temperature: Fine and cool at first, becoming cloudy in the east towards the evening with light rain.

Limpopo

Temperature: Fine and cool, becoming cloudy in the east in the evening.

North West

Temperature: Fine and cool

Free State

Temperature: Fine and cold to cool.

Northern Cape

Temperature: Fine and cold to cool.

Wind: – The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly.

Western Cape

Temperature: Partly cloudy in the south and the east in the morning, otherwise fine and cold to cool. Fog patches are expected in the north east at first.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-westerly in the south in the morning, otherwise moderate to fresh south-easterly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.

Eastern Cape

The Western half: Fine to partly cloudy and cold but cool along the coast where it will be cloudy at first with isolated early morning showers. Frost can be expected in places over the interior.

The Western half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong westerly, becoming light easterly from the west in the evening.

The Eastern half: Partly cloudy in the southwest at first, otherwise fine and cold, but cool along the coast. Frost can be expected in places over the northern interior.

The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly, becoming south-westerly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal

Temperature: Partly cloudy at first with isolated morning showers and rain along the coast, otherwise fine and cool.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate southerly to south-westerly.
