Shorts and slops or an umbrella? Here’s what the weather holds for every province in South Africa on Saturday, 26 August 2023.
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS
A. An Orange Level 5 warning: Damaging Waves and Winds resulting in difficulty in navigation, damage to coastal infrastructure, beach erosion and possible rogue waves are expected between Plettenberg Bay and Port Edward.
B. A Yellow Level 2 warning: Damaging Waves and Winds resulting in some disruption to road, rail and air transport and difficulty in navigation at sea are expected along the coast between Hondeklip Bay and Plettenberg Bay.
C. A Yellow level 2 warning: Damaging Winds leading to localised damage to settlements, properties and temporary structures are expected over the southern parts of the Eastern Cape.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:
Extremely high fire danger conditions is expected in places over Limpopo as well as extreme north-western Highveld of Mpumalanga.
ADVISORIES:
The public and small stock farmers are advised that very cold, wet and windy conditions are expected over the most parts of the country, southern interior of Namakwa of the Northern Cape, interior of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and central interior on Friday into Saturday (25-26/08/2023).

Temperature: Fine and cool but cold in the south.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
Temperature: Fine and cool to warm but hot in the Lowveld becoming cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east at night.
Temperature: Fine and warm to hot.
Temperature: Partly cloudy in the east at first, otherwise fine and cool to warm.
Temperature: Partly cloudy and cold to cool, with isolated morning showers and thundershowers in the south, becoming fine in the afternoon. Possible light-snow can be expected in the morning over the extreme south.
Temperature: Fine in the north and north-east, otherwise partly cloudy and cold to cool, with isolated morning showers and thundershowers in the south-east. It will become fine in the afternoon. Possible light-snow can be expected in the morning in the extreme south-east.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly.
Temperature: Mostly cloudy, windy and cold, but very cold over the interior, becoming partly cloudy from the north from late afternoon. Light isolated showers and rain are expected over most parts of the province mainly in the morning but scattered along the south-coast with light snow over the south-western and southern mountain peaks.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong southerly to south-westerly, but near-gale along the south-coast at first, while moderating from late morning. It will become south-easterly north of Cape Agulhas from the evening.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
The Western half: Very cold and windy in places, otherwise cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain, but scattered along the coast. Light snow is expected over the high lying areas in the morning.
The Western half – The wind along the coast will be strong to Gale force westerly, becoming fresh to strong south-westerly in the afternoon.
The Eastern half: Fine and cool along the Wild-Coast, otherwise partly cloudy and cold with isolated showers and rain, but cloudy and very cold with light morning snow over the high lying areas.
The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-westerly, reaching gale force in places.
Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool, but warm in the extreme north with isolated afternoon showers/rain in the extreme east.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southwesterly becoming strong in the afternoon.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: High.
