Severe Weather Alerts

IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS:

Level 2 for Severe thunderstorms resulting in localised damage to infrastructure, settlements(formal/informal), property, localised flooding of susceptible road, Low lying areas and bridges, large amounts of small hail and localised damage on structure and vehicles are expected over the Highveld and Escarpment of Mpumalanga Province.

Temperature and UVB forecast

Gauteng:

Temperature: Warm in the north, otherwise partly cloudy and cool with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered afternoon thundershowers but isolated in the north.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon thundershowers in the south and south-west.

North-West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the north-east.

Free State:

Temperature: Cloudy and cool, with scattered showers and thundershowers.

Northern Cape:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east but scattered in the extreme east.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate north-westerly becoming southerly to south-easterly in the afternoon.

Western Cape:

Temperature: Morning fog patches along the west coast, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but cloudy with isolated showers and rain along the south coast.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Moderate.

Eastern Cape:

The Western half – Partly cloudy and cool with isolated thundershowers in the north, but cloudy with scattered showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior.

The Western half -Wind: The wind along the coast will be Light to moderate westerly, becoming south-easterly from mid-morning.

The Eastern half -Morning fog patches in places over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the south-west. It will be cold in places on the high ground.

The Eastern halfWind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh south-westerly, becoming light to moderate southerly from late morning.

Kwazulu-Natal:

Temperature: Warm in places in the north, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered afternoon showers and thundershowers.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh south-westerly.

The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Low.
