Turkey opens up for SA travellers once again

Travelling to Turkey? The country has reopened to both vaccinated and unvaccinated South African travellers once again.

According to Travelnews, Turkish Airlines’ Cape Town office has informed the industry that travellers from South Africa, or those who have been in South Africa 14 days prior to travel, may once again enter Turkey.

All visitors arriving in Turkey must have completed a Passenger Locator Form, and both vaccinated or unvaccinated passengers must provide certified proof of a negative PCR test result, taken 72 hours prior to arrival. Vaccinated individuals with proof of full vaccination completed at least 14 days prior to travel are exempt from quarantine.

Turkey entry requirements for unvaccinated

Although the country will allow both vaccinated and unvaccinated visitors, there are some requirements in place for the unvaccinated or those without documentary proof of full vaccination.

• Passengers must quarantine for seven days at their place of residence or a declared address.
• Quarantine can be terminated earlier by a negative result from a PCR test taken on the fifth day of quarantine. If the result is unfortunately positive on the fifth day, the passenger must continue with all seven days of quarantine.
• Unvaccinated passengers between 12 and 18 years old, must have a PCR test done at their place of residence. If results are negative, they do not need to quarantine.
