Air Côte d’Ivoire will soon be launching a quick new route between Johannesburg and Abidjan, the Capital city of Côte d’Ivoire, this month. The new Johannesburg-Abidjan route will fly via Kinshasa and is expected launch on 29 June. The route is said to be the fastest route between South Africa and Côte d’Ivoire offered by any airline within Africa.

Travel News reports that the airline will offer four flights per week. Bookings have been open since 1 June.

The new flight route will also allow travellers from South Africa to have access to other Air Côte d’Ivoire destinations, such as Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Liberia, Senegal, Togo, DRC and Guinea-Bissau.

Chief executive at Air Côte d’Ivoire, Laurent Loukou, said that the new route will do well to improve bilateral trade between the two countries.

“We believe in the future of Africa just as we believe in the future of our airline. We are making bold new plans for our future and that includes this new route to connect South Africa with Côte d’Ivoire. Africa is open for business and we want to make it easier for business to happen.” he said.

“We are excited about this opportunity to drive new business between Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa. The possibilities for co-operation and business are endless,” Loukou added.
