A reworked world map from SpaSeekers.com has revealed what people wear in saunas around the world – helping to identifying the sauna etiquette in 84 countries to ‘help spa-goers avoid embarrassment’, reports Daily Mail.

The results were divided into four categories: Countries where you could go nude, countries where you have to wear a swimsuit, countries where you have to wear a towel and then countries where no data was available.
According to the data, wearing a swimsuit was the most popular overall, as it’s the most appropriate sauna attire in 41 countries globally, including the in the U.S and Australia.

Next up 24 countries featured in the ‘wear a towel’ category, where sauna-visitors had to wear a towel in the sauna – countries in this list included the UK, Canada and Spain
Then finally the results showed that 23 countries around the world allowed a completely nude experience, which included the countries of Sweden and Japan.

“While the thought of sitting naked in a hot room with strangers might feel foreign to some, the experience is completely normal practice for many spa-loving countries around the world where spa-goers can relax in the pool, sauna and other spa experiences completely starkers.” SpaSeekers.com said.
According to the map, sauna-users in South Africa have to bring along and use a towel in order to keep it comfortable.
