After many restorations, the Rocky Bay Resorts mountain bike trails on the KZN South Coast is ready to welcome back biking enthusiasts.
The Rocky Bay Resort on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast has announced that their newly-refurbished mountain biking and hiking trails are ready to welcome back all hikers and bikers. The trails, which were left in ruin after the devastating floods that happened in the KZN area in April this year, received some TLC over the last few months.
The Rocky Bay trails were established in 2011 and has now grown to accommodate the massive demand from visitors, consisting of around 111km of running and mountain biking trails, says IOL.
The mountain biking trails cater to all fitness levels, consisting of a doable 12km trail, a 19km and 29km trail, and a more challenging 39km trail. The running trails are made up of 6km, 8km and 10km trail options, all clearly marked and signposted for users.
Annien Koulountis, the Resorts Manager at Rocky Bay Resorts, said that they were very excited to welcome the hiking and biking fraternities back to Rocky Bay after extensive work was done to re-establish their wonderful trails.
She added that the Rocky Bay Trails cater for both novice and experienced mountain bikers and trail runners alike, passing through sugar cane fields with ocean views and into the cooler indigenous coastal forest sections, which is a real treat for birders.
The trails are also perfect for those who have always wanted to get into mountain biking. The trails are operational from sunrise to sunset and rates can be found below:
